I have been working on this painting, on and off, for the past year. Simply titled “Daisies”, it is done in oils on canvas, 20″ x 16″. The image is from a photograph of fresh daisies that I had in a vase outside on the back deck in the sunshine when we still lived in Maple Ridge. But there is a lot of emotion wrapped up in this painting at the moment. You see, I was motivated to finish it now, in honour of our dear friend, who just recently passed away. His wife and I had the opportunity to sit in her studio a few afternoons and paint together, chit chatting about everything and the weather. He loved that we did this, and encouraged it often. He once told me that the secret to his success (and he was very successful in everything he did) was that he always finished whatever he started.

I couldn’t think of a better way to honour him than to finish a painting I had started in his wife’s studio.
